GPU Use in Flash 10.2 = under 20% for fullspread video in this player May 2nd Adobe Flash UPdate.
Above- realtime of playback for this video after updated to flash 10.2 … performance is due to most recent improvements in the flashplayer and special preparation of mp4 video files to take advantage of that, and CTN-Specific coded video smoothing for any scale of screen in the player accounts for 4%.
This is a vastly different outcome than what was available or possible last year… use at large sized playback in Higher Resolution and Bitrate usually results in higher CPU useage and can add to system load, causing moments of stress often seen as frame jumping ( mp4 frame skip – catchup also called Judder ), a situation that is local to the system you have and not dependent on playback download. Here the CPU is doing video smoothing during progressive download and the GPU is doing the rendering. This years image quality is now as good when scaled, as it was last year when only fixed size video playback could look be made to look pristine.
With flash player 10.2 this player optimizes as best it can the access to the GPU codec for playback resulting in around or under 20% cpu load when the system will allow it, while also progressively downloading and allowing playhead interaction for downloaded content ( scrubbing ). Play ahead ( byte-range ) requires our HTML5 mp4 player ( to jump ahead to content note yet downloaded )
